On March 7, 2022, Master Changan will finally debut the Oshan X7 Plus SUV in Pakistan. The car was intended to make its debut in February, but it was postponed for undisclosed reasons.
“Last time I spoke to you was almost a year ago and I am humbled to have your attention again,” Changan CEO Danial Malik said in a tiny teaser video released on the company’s social media accounts, referring to last year’s Alsvin launch. What’s more intriguing is that the Oshan X7 will be unveiled in Pakistan for the first time.
Local production of the Oshan X7 began in February, with locally assembled units rolling off Changan’s assembly facilities in Karachi. Changan is once again leading the way by starting to roll off the vehicle before the official launch. This is, without a doubt, a better strategy to launch a car than collecting reservations without having ready-to-go local production. Changan describes the X7 as a “Disruption in Pakistan’s SUV Segment,” and expects it would cause a stir in the market.
In terms of proportions, the Oshan X7 Plus is a beefed-up version of the Oshan X7 and can be likened to the Toyota Fortuner and third-generation Kia Sorento. The X7 Plus will be offered in 5-seat and 7-seat configurations to meet the needs of a wide range of customers. Changan has yet to release the vehicle’s official specs and other data, but according to reports, it will be loaded with features and safety equipment. Danial Malik has already given us a clue of what the Oshan X7 will have to offer. He stated, “
The Changan Oshan sports a Euro-VI engine, and it will be the first Euro-VI SUV built in Pakistan. Second, it is outfitted with advanced autonomous technology, which is being launched for the first time in Pakistan. We have been testing autonomous driving at level 3 and have introduced autonomous technology that is compatible with Pakistani roads as a result of this intensive testing. This will not only make driving more enjoyable, but it will also make it much safer.”
The X7 Plus will be powered by Changan’s latest 1.5L turbocharged engine from the newest Blue Whale engine series, which produces 188 hp and 300 Nm of torque while achieving a 0-100 km/h sprint in just 8.23 seconds and a claimed fuel economy of 14 km per liter, which is comparable to any conventional sedan.
