Quetta Gladiators are on a last-chance saloon, they not only need to win their last two games, but they also need to hope that their opponents today, the Peshawar Zalmi, lose all their remaining games and then hope that they upstage them on net run-rate. It looks far-fetched at the moment, but surprises do happen in cricket. On the other hand, a simple win will secure Zalmi’s passage to the playoffs and will leave the last 5 games as mere sidenotes ahead of the knockout games. A lot to play for for both teams. Toss and team sheets coming up shortly.
Mohammad Nawaz | Quetta captain:
Every captain hopes for a performance like that to win the game. Both he and us will remember this for the rest of our lives. Guptill and Roy resumed the conversation, which was about showing intent from the first ball. Hafeez then displayed his expertise by making a speedy 40. As Ifti and Umar play at positions 5 and 6, sending Hafeez to position 4 to form a partnership was not a difficult decision. We’ll attempt to play well in the final game, and hopefully, the playoffs will go as planned.
Babar Azam | Peshawar captain:
The entire game was altered by Jason Roy. The quality of the bowling was subpar and we didn’t follow through on our plans. Adding another spinner wouldn’t have helped because of the excellent pitch. We wished to continue using the lineup from the previous game. As a young player, Saim Ayub is growing every day, which is fantastic for Pakistan cricket. His strong start helped maintain the momentum. We’ll sit down and talk about what went wrong after you identify a few things as a professional. We wish to return because we now have back-to-back games.
Jason Roy | Player of the Match:
I simply went outside and enjoyed myself. It was a lot of fun, but you had to bat hard right away on that wicket with those boundaries. It appeared to be exceedingly joyful because it was one of those days. You must play proper shots on these wickets, which is quite difficult for the bowlers. We have the players, but this tournament hasn’t gone our way, so this is something to grin about. It does not happen very often, especially in T20 cricket, so I will appreciate every second.
